Designer label Milk and Honey has joined forces with clothing retailer General Pants to design and sell limited edition t-shirts in support of Silent Angels.
Silent Angels was created in 2005 when a group of friends decided to take on a community project to create awareness of child sexual abuse, with Lyn Yu as the driving force behind the charity.
“Child sexual abuse is an atrocity,” says Lyn. “Every single day in Australia, and around the word, a child’s innocence is brutally ripped from them. We must all do what we can to help these young victims.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Milk and Honey and General Pants supporting us.”
The t-shirts will go on sale nationally on 1 October and will retail for $49.95. Five dollars from each garment will be donated to Silent Angels. Each t-shirt will bear a Milk and Honey design and carry an information tag detailing the issue of child sexual abuse and the work of Silent Angels.
“On the back of taking part in this year’s Silent Angels fashion show, we saw the opportunity to further our contribution to this valuable cause,” said Milk and Honey founder and designer Gill Milligan.
The exact sentiment of General Pants.
“I think it goes without saying that there are few more precious causes in the world than this. We hope to do as much as we can to support it now and in the future,” said Christian Wais, general manager of General Pants.
The t-shirt launch will precede the 2006 Silent Angels Cocktail Fashion Show and Fundraising Auction which will be held at The Tearoom, Queen Victoria Building, Sydney, on October 24. Tickets cost $150 and are available to the public.
Hosted by Lisa Wilkinson, presenter of Channel Seven’s Weekend Sunrise, with Alex Dimitraides as guest DJ, this fashion extravaganza will feature creations by some of Australia’s hottest designers including Gabrielle Scarvelli, Alice McCall, Millich & Morton, High Tea With Mrs Woo, Bowie, Catherine Calvert, Aurelio Costarella, Ed & Bek, Fleur Wood, Kyotap, Natasha Gan, Romance Was Born, Silence is Golden and Valerie Tolosa.

Their brief was simple. Decorate and embellish three Metallicus bodystocking tops to be paraded and auctioned on the evening, following by an online auction on ebay.
While the evening will be a fabulous mix of designers, models, media, food, wine and celebrities with the gift bags (overflowing with products generously donated by a host of sponsors) rivalled only by the Oscars, the message is serious – let’s all do what we can to help create awareness of child sexual abuse.
